Eagles of Death Metal
Eagles of Death Metal
With Eagles of Death Metal there's something intelligent about breaking things down to the lowest common denominator. Sure singer Jesse Hughes will likely never run short of sexual innuendos in his lyrics, and he’ll probably never tire of party rock, chicks and nightlife, but these guys aren't some sleazy gang of womanizing rockers. The Eagles of Death Metal are about respect, love and the ladies but most of all, they’re about loving life and appreciating its every moment.
At first listen some may dismiss Eagles of Death Metal as a one-dimensional sex-rock band, but the thing is, the song writing is actually pretty clever. Sure they’re horny and can’t get enough of the ladies but not without a respectful salute to the boyfriends that accompany them to the gig. Full of witty puns and party anthems the songs not only have meaning, they’re inspirational. When Jesse Hughes writes a song, the last thing he wants to do is wallow in his own self-pity. Instead, he wants to kick himself in the ass, get out and have a good time.
"My wife had an affair on me and it fucked me up, really bad" says Jesse Hughes about the time period right before the band formed.
Given the situation, it's easy to see where the band gets their charisma. After going down a dark road, Jesse Hughes has taken a few lessons to heart. You get what you give. If we can learn anything from Eagles of Death Metal let it be that if you bring the love, you'll only get more in return. Attitude is everything for Jesse Hughes.
"You'll catch more fish with a net than you will with a line. A line is a word you say to a girl and a net is an attitude that scoops 'em all in".
On stage, Eagles of Death Metal have a magnetism that seems contagious. They exude the notion that they’re sexy because they say so and that's an inspiration to many. So guys, take note. Because from what I can see, the ladies already have.
